Biography
This past September, I was invited to the XFEL beam time from September 17th to 19th with my mentor Dr. Thomas Grant. I worked with Dr. Grant this summer through the BioXFEL summer internship program, and expanded on a software useful for users collecting solution scattering data. During the three days of data collection, I worked alongside the scientists as a colleague. I was able to experience the quick decisions made during the beam time, and was considered a crucial member, giving feedback using the software I had developed over the summer. I was able to learn more about the aims of the experiment, other necessities when making decisions during data collection, and much about the laser and how sample was delivered. For the first time as an undergraduate student, I felt like a true scientist who had loved the work they were in and had the potential to learn so much more.
