Job Description:
DESY is one of the world's leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics.
In the framework of the ERC Synergy Grant project AXSIS (Attosecond X-ray Science: Imaging and Spectroscopy) a team of international scientists is designing and building compact attosecond hard X-ray sources to explore their use in attosecond serial X-ray crystallography and spectroscopy to make movies of biological, chemical and physical processes on an attosecond time scale with atomic resolution.
The Position:
Research on the elucidation of water splitting in photosynthesis in the AXSIS project in cooperation with the AXSIS team, in particular: Planning, development and execution of biological and chemical sample preparation for the AXSIS project Planning, development and execution of X-ray diffraction data collection Planning, development and execution of the data analysis for the determination of the structure and function of the model and protein complexes Interpretation of the time-resolved structural changes during the water splitting process in photosystem II Writing of scientific articles and their publication in scientific journals as well as the presentation of the research results of the AXSIS project at national and international conferences
Requirements:
